“Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us” (Psalm 62:8).
Dear Praying Friends:
Once again, David is in dire straits, His enemies, who are many, are consulting with each other about how to destroy him. They are too strong for him. Where can he turn for rescue?
Not to men: neither poor and powerless nor rich and resourceful can help him. Not to riches, even those acquired by superior strength (9-10).
No, only God possesses the power to deliver him and to protect him from those who combine to assail him and who rely on lies and treachery to bring him down (3-7).
Likewise with us: When either human or spiritual foes join forces against us, we can’t rely on other people to protect us or deliver us. We have to turn to God alone, who is our rock, salvation, strong tower, defense, and refuge (1-2, 5-8).
How do we do this? By trusting in him, especially his promises to help us in time of need; by pouring out our hearts to him, who alone understands and accepts us; and by believing, no matter what, that he has total power and unfailing love (11-12).
Thank you for praying last week. Though I was not able to write much, the Lord did help me to make some progress on the book review, the story on Roland Allen, another story for the BDCC, and the notes on Titus.

As you may know, I celebrated a big birthday last week. Alerted by Dori, many sent birthday greetings and blessings. I can’t answer all of these, so please accept this expression of my profound gratitude and strong affection for you. By God’s grace, it was the happiest birthday of my adult life, and one of the happiest days in all my years. Through those who wrote to me, God poured out his love upon this erring and most unworthy child, reminding me of his boundless mercy to us in Christ. As I slowly read through the cards, I am still basking in the warmth of affection they express, which I know reflects upon God’s work in me, not upon any intrinsic merit of my own.
“He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defense; I shall not be moved” (Psalm 62:6).
Yours in his love, power, and protection,
Wright
