“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds [sorrows]” (Psalm 147:3).
Dear Praying Friends:
Psalm 147 calls us to praise the LORD for a variety of reasons, including: He is great, and mighty in power; "His understanding is infinite. The LORD lifts up the humble; He casts the wicked down to the ground” (5-6).
He strengthens and protects his people and blesses their children. He sends the snow and the hail, and also sends his Word uniquely to Israel.
Among all these reasons, healing the brokenhearted and bandaging their wounds [sorrows] points to his infinite care and tenderness, as finally revealed in his Son, Jesus.
In the past couple of weeks, I have listened to a number of people who are, for good reasons, either brokenhearted or very sorrowful. What a comfort to know the God who can console and comfort us at such times!
“The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His mercy” (11).
Yours in his kindness and care,
Wright
