“For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man who trusts in You!” (Psalm 84:11-12).
Dear Praying Friends:
Psalm 84 is a perennial favorite for several reasons. I love the way it concludes with these six promises: As a sun, God will bestow provision (energy, light warmth); as a shield, he is our protection. He gives grace (his favor and mercy) and even glory (honor, and eternal glory). He withholds no good thing (see Matthew 7:11; Romans 8:28) and, in sum, showers blessedness.
Who receives these priceless gifts? Those (1) who walk uprightly, that is, who seek to walk with integrity in a manner that pleases him (Ephesians 4:1, 17; 5;2, 8, 15; Colossians 1:10). And that is possible, of course, only for those (2) who trust in him (2 Corinthians 5:7)
