“Jesus wept” (John 11:35).
“My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death” (Mark 14:34).
Even though he knew that Lazarus would soon be brought back to life, Jesus wept over the death of his friend and the grief of those who loved him. He also knew that he would rise again after his death on the cross, but he was still exceedingly sorrowful in the Garden of Gethsemane.
Thank God for a Savior who knows!
We are surrounded by grief.
Think of the hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian and Russian widows, children, and parents of those killed in the war in Ukraine; the millions of Ukrainian women and children scattered as refugees all over Europe; the thousands who mourn for those killed in Israel and Gaza.
We are surrounded by grief. And the Lord mourns with us.
Yours in the love of our Great High Priest,
Wright
