“Academic” Articles

As part of our new mission to take the gospel of Jesus Christ “To Every Creature,” I have found that posting articles and reviews on the website academia.edu reaches people all over the world.

So, what is academia.edu?

“Academia is a platform for sharing academic research. Academics have uploaded 22 million papers, and 31 million academics, professionals, and students read papers on Academia every month”.

My papers

In the past few years, I have uploaded more than two dozen papers on a variety of subjects:

Theology

Biblical Studies

Chinese Christianity

Missions

In coming months, I hope to add more papers and reviews that I have already written.

Response

Although by no means extraordinary or overwhelming, the response to these papers and articles has greatly encouraged me.

In the past month, there have been 171 Unique Visitors; 56 Downloads; 342 Views; from 39 Countries; 125 cities; 50 universities. Viewers include faculty members, graduate students, undergraduates, and others.

Some of the countries and regions are: The United States, Nigeria, Canada, the United Kingdom, Italy, Hong Kong, Brazil, Taiwan, Romania, South Africa, Malaysia, Norway, Japan, Germany, Czech Republic, Korea, Kenya, Singapore, India, Malawi, Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, France, United Arab Emirates, Sweden, Venezuela, Spain, Benin, Poland, Ukraine, Belarus.

Reality Check

Most months have seen fewer viewers; the paper on Augustine has generated unusual interest. A “view” does not mean that the paper was completely read, much less that the reader agreed with it! Although I rank among the top 5% by number of views, numbers for some scholars are much, much higher. And not all these papers are, strictly speaking, “academic” a few* cite only the Scriptures.

Your part

Please thank God with me for this unexpected opportunity, and pray that I will be able to glorify him and spread the gospel more and more through this unique medium.

Soli Deo Gloria – to God Alone Be the glory!
