God is Helper

“In my distress I cried to the LORD, and He heard me” (Psalm 120:1).

“I will lift up my eyes to the hills – from whence come my help? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth” (Psalm 121:1-2).

Dear Praying Friends:

Most of us can identify with the psalmist. Perhaps we are in deep distress. Almost surely, we need divine help with things too hard for us. Or both.
In either case, we can cry out to God for help, when we need:

  • Wisdom: “If anyone lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously and without reproaching, and it will be given him” (James 1:5; see Proverbs 2:6).

  • Physical, mental, or emotional strength: “He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength” (Isaiah 40:29). “I will strengthen you, surely I will help you” (Isaiah 41:10).

  • Financial provision: “My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

  • A more Christ-like character, especially in relationships: “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control” (Galatians 5:22).

  • Peace of mind in the midst of trouble: “You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You. Trust in the LORD forever . . . “(Isaiah 26:3-4a.).

“The LORD is your keeper . . . The LORD shall preserve you from all evil; he shall preserve your soul” (Psalm 121:5, 7).

Yours in his constant care,
Wright
