“I will cry out to God Most High, to God who performs all things for me” (Psalm 57:2 New King James Version).
Different versions translate this verse in various ways, since the words “all things” are not in the original Hebrew text. The NIV says that “God fulfills his purpose for me,” which seems to be the meaning. Psalm 138:1 repeats this theme: “The LORD will perfect [complete] that which concerns me.”
Putting it another way, Paul writes that “He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6).
And what is that good work? “He chose us in [Christ] before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him (Ephesians 1:4; see also Romans 8:28-30; 1 Corinthians 1:8; 1 Thessalonians 4:3).
So, through all events and by many means, God is working out his moral purpose for our lives, so that we may eventually enjoy unhindered happiness and fellowship with him forever.
Furthermore, I believe that he will also complete his ministry purpose for us. As we trust in his strength and rely on his wisdom, he will enable us to fulfill the ministry which have received in the Lord (Colossians 4:17).
These truths have comforted and encouraged me in the past months of difficulty and, during my sabbatical, of diversion from China ministry in order to fulfill my responsibilities to my family and to my own physical and mental health.
